The Thorong La Pass Trek is a compact yet exhilarating journey through the heart of the Annapurna region, culminating in the crossing of Thorong La Pass (5,416m) — one of the world’s highest and most iconic trekking passes. This 10-day itinerary offers a condensed version of the classic Annapurna Circuit, tailored for trekkers seeking a high-altitude challenge within a limited timeframe.
The trek begins in the scenic village of Chame and follows the Marsyangdi River valley through forests, cliffs, and alpine landscapes before reaching Manang, a culturally rich Himalayan settlement. After proper acclimatization, the route continues upward to Yak Kharka, Thorong Phedi, and finally across the awe-inspiring Thorong La Pass, before descending to the sacred site of Muktinath and eventually Jomsom.

Itinerary
Start the journey with a long scenic drive from Kathmandu through Besisahar to Chame. The route follows winding roads, rivers, and terraced hillsides before climbing into the Annapurna region. Overnight in Chame.
Begin trekking through pine forests and rocky trails along the Marsyangdi River. Cross bridges and admire the dramatic rock face of Paungda Danda before reaching Upper Pisang. Overnight in teahouse.
Take the high route through Ghyaru and Ngawal for some of the best views of Annapurna II and IV. Arrive in Manang, a culturally vibrant village with monasteries and dramatic landscapes. Overnight in Manang.
Spend the day acclimatizing with optional hikes to Gangapurna Lake or Ice Lake. Use the time to rest and explore local Tibetan-influenced culture. Overnight in Manang.
Ascend steadily through alpine meadows and juniper trees. Cross suspension bridges and pass grazing yaks on your way to Yak Kharka. Overnight in teahouse.
Short but challenging hike with rocky trails and thinner air. Reach Thorong Phedi, the base camp for the next day’s pass crossing. Rest and prepare. Overnight in Phedi or High Camp.
Start before dawn to tackle the steep ascent to Thorong La Pass. From the top, enjoy breathtaking views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. Descend to the sacred pilgrimage town of Muktinath. Overnight in teahouse.
Descend through the dry Kali Gandaki valley, passing ancient villages like Kagbeni. Reach Jomsom, a windy town known for its apple orchards and mountain views. Overnight in Jomsom.
Take a short scenic flight over the mountains to Pokhara. Check into your hotel and enjoy a relaxed afternoon at Lakeside. Overnight in Pokhara.
Return to Kathmandu via flight or tourist bus. The trip concludes with either departure or optional sightseeing/shopping. Overnight in Kathmandu or transfer to the airport.
